The results were as expected, so I guess the answer is ‘yes’….. so why does it feel so anticlimactic?
- This was a good show; the homecoming ones always are.
It started with the top 3 singing ‘Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now’, which of course reminds me of Clay and Ruben singing this during the season 2 finale. The Ford commercial was a good one. I really enjoy those Ford commercials, and find most of them to be clever and creative.
Ryan tells us there were 56 million votes and this was the closest race ever. We get a recap of last night’s performances, and then Fantasia sings. I was never a huge Fantasia fan, although I admire her greatly for going public with her dyslexia and overcoming it.
David A is called out first. His homecoming looked fun; David looked overwhelmed but happy. It was sweet that he was crying; you could see the enormity of this hit him, and in a good way. Syesha is next. She looks like she had a great time too, and she also got emotional. David C’s homecoming was also cool, and like the others, the emotions overwhelmed him. I think he summed it up well when he said he couldn’t process it. I can’t imagine how this must have felt for these three contestants; as David said, what a trip.
The two people competing for the title of American Idol are David A and David C.
Roundup:
So, no surprises, and it’s going to be the David-David finale we were expecting. Syesha was anticipating this result, and was graceful and poised during her last song. At the risk of sounding like Paula right now, Syesha looked beautiful tonight and I really do think she could make it as a model. She should be proud of herself for making it this far, especially after having been in the bottom more than any other contestant.
And now we have to start thinking about next week. This is our first male male finale since season 2, and that was a great show. I think this is going to be a great show as well, and a very close race. To steal a line from Ed, ‘Is it Tuesday yet?’
