The week that was #....I lost count
#445 - 1--ed--The week that was #....I lost count--2008-05-19 21:47:45
#After what most considered a lackluster final 3 show, I doubt we will get the same on final night. Let's see how we all saw this past week. -
Best performance of the week.
Idolhead Ed: David Cook’s “First Time Ever I Saw Your Face”
Idolista:
LindaK: David C's first song. Simon done good!
Bellebook: David Archuleta's "And So It Goes." I just loved it!
JLynn: David C's "The first time..." It really was pretty magnificent, since the song usually bores the crap out of me.
Worst performance:
Idolhead Ed: David A.’s Chris Brown debacle.
Idolista:
LindaK: I didn't love 'Fever', though it wasn't awful.
Bellebook: David Cook's second song. It annoyed me again!
JLynn: hmmm.....David's "Dare You to Move"
Best dressed:
Idolhead Ed: Syesha. Who else could look that good.
Idolista:
LindaK: Syseha, duh.
Bellebook: Syesha Mercado again. Now that she's gone, who's going to win Best Dressed?
JLynn: Syesha
Most disappointing performance:
Idolhead Ed: David A.s’ Chris Brown debacle
Idolista:
LindaK: too many of them. As my students would say, this episode wasn't 'poppin'.
Bellebook: Syesha's third song.
JLynn: Anything the producers picked.
Most surprising performance:
Idolhead Ed: Nobody and next year I’m changing some of these lame questions. Why don’t you readers help by giving me some ideas.
Idolista:
LindaK: nobody. Ed, the questions aren't bad when a lot of contestants are still left; but when it gets down to so little I agree we need some new ones
Bellebook: Nobody was really surprising unless you count David Archuleta's own song choice.
JLynn: Ummm....I was surprised David A picked Chris Brown
Who didn’t leave that should have:
Idolhead Ed: Who else could have left.
Idolista:
LindaK: no one; it was Syesha's turn to exit
Bellebook: Again, nobody. The two Davids deserve to be in the finals.
JLynn: Ah.....it went down like it had to.
Who left that shouldn’t have:
Idolhead Ed: Again help me with some better questions readers. Just put them in the comment section please.
Idolista:
LindaK: no one.... and this question is great when two people leave at a time...
Bellebook: Again, nobody. I like Syesha but it was her time to go.
JLynn: Syesha made it hella farther than anyone expected.
Best song choice:
Idolhead Ed: David’s Simon pick. It worked and shouldn’t have.
Idolista:
LindaK: gotta hand it to Cook and Cowell
Bellebook: Simon. His song choice is why I had David Cook tied with David Archuleta in the first round.
JLynn: Simon's pick for David.....Simon's good at this song picking game.
Worst song choice:
Idolhead Ed: David A.’s Chris Brown Fiasco.
I though I’d change it up a bit this time. I don’t want to bore you. Zzzzzzzzzzzz
Idolista:
LindaK: wasn't thrilled with 'Fever'; sorry Syesha
Bellebook: "Fever." Paris did the song better than Syesha! However, Syesha did it better than Nicholas Pedro.
JLynn: The producers picking that RIDICULOUS choice for Syesha "hit me up"
Top 3 vocals:
Idolhead Ed: David A.’s “And So it Goes”, David Cook’s “First Time…” and Syesha’s “If I ain’t Got You”.
Idolista:
LindaK: does it matter
Bellebook: David Archuleta, David Cook and Syesha Mercado.
JLynn: Yeah, the judges picks were everyone's best.
Who should we look out for:
Idolhead Ed: Not who but what. Better questions for us next year.
Idolista:
LindaK: the season 8 contestants
Bellebook: David Cook.
JLynn: David Coooooook.
Your favorite contestant right now:
Idolhead Ed: David C.
Idolista:
LindaK: Jason... am I allowed to say that?
Bellebook: Still David Archuleta. I hope he does really well in the finale!
JLynn: David Coooooook
Who do you think will win:
Idolhead Ed: David C.
Idolista:
LindaK: this is a good question and one I keep fluctuating on.....
Bellebook: It's neck-and-neck between the Davids once again.
JLynn: Someone named David, preferably, David Coooooook
Who improved the most:Idolhead Ed: Nobody
Idolista:
LindaK: no one
Bellebook: Well, nobody showed much improvement this time.
JLynn: they all took major steps back.
Who took a turn for the worse:
Idolhead Ed: Nobody
Idolista:
LindaK: no one
Bellebook: Syesha took a slight turn for the worse.
JLynn: They all did.
Final Thoughts:
Idolhead Ed: It’s hard to believe that someone would ever beat Nikki’s record bottom 3 appearances. But hey, Syesha is about 10 times better and rarely deserved her placement. And while we all knew that David A. would be here right now, it is a great final when someone charges from the rear to make it. I look for the best final on Tuesday we have ever seen. But me looking for it and it happening as Jayne Cobb would say “Ain’t usually that same”. I don’t go for that hogwash that David C. should hope to lose. He should hope he wins and wins big. Do you think Bo Bice would have done worse if he had won? Or how about Kat? No matter, I’m looking forward to the finale and all the hoopla surrounding it.
Idolista:
LindaK: I firmly believe that both Davids have music careers ahead of them, no matter who is actually crowned the 'idol'. And as we've seen in our only other male-male finale in season 2, the runner up ended up winning on the charts and in his career. In this case, it's even better because both Davids are equally deserving for different reasons and I'm having a hard time choosing one over the other. They both are already 'winners' as far as I'm concerned.
Bellebook: Syesha's fate proves that early inconsistency can doom a person once it comes down to the wire. However, if she had chosen a better song for the contestants' song choice round she might've had a moment and she might still be here. Now that the two Davids are left, I wonder how the Idol coronation song will help or hurt them. It should help David A. out quite a bit -- inspirational ballads are his thing. But it might hurt David C. and if it helps cost him the win, I know quite a few people will be furious! What David C. needs to do is to take a risk on the Idol coronation song -- if he can. If he can't, he's just going to have to use his other two songs to try to help him pull out the win. What David A. needs to do is to be great in all of his songs -- including the Idol coronation one, of course. If he can, he might get enough fans to pull off the win. In any case, this is a really good finale coming up!
JLynn: Ten times better, Ed? Syesha is a THOUSAND times better than Nikki!!!!--comments-->1--1127--5
